A memory by Ray Reber ’55

Our Lunch Bunch started in 1996 with six guys from the classes of ’54 and ’55. The very first lunch was held at the Lyndon Diner in Manheim, PA. The group has maintained and strengthened friendships and relationships after graduation from the Shippensburg State Teachers College.

The Lunch Bunch meets eight months out of the year, rotating locations between 14 different restaurants. Over the course of 25 years and 200 lunches, only 5 had to be canceled due to bad weather.

In 2016, the Lunch Bunch grew to 37 people. These alumni represent eight counties in Pennsylvania, one county in Maryland, and one in Virginia. They reflect the true spirit of Shippensburg and their loyalty is shown through financial, social and moral support of Shippensburg University, and one another.

The original six Lunch Bunch members were: Darrell Winters '55, Al Mauer '55, Gerald Haugh '54, Richard Shewell '54, Ray Reber '55 and Donald Tribit '55.
